What to do to escape the chill this winter in Sydney?

Walk down the Darling Harbour to the OUTBACK CENTRE for a free live show featuring the didgeridoo

This unique centre holds free shows every day (1pm, 3pm and 5pm) and offers a large collection of Australian souvenirs including a range of Aboriginal arts. The performance ‘Sounds of the Outback’ is the most popular Aboriginal Show in Sydney. The spectacular sound journey begins with the traditional didjeridoo music followed by the sonds of Australian animals and birds – everything played by the same performer. You can meet him after the show to find aou more about didjeridoos and how to play them.

Spend a relaxing day at the CHINESE GARDEN OF FRIENDSHIP

Winding pathways, waterfalls and lakes follow centuries old traditions of landscape design. This peaceful haven in the heart of a busy city is a gift from the China’s Guangdong province to the City of Sydney in 1988. Chinese Garden is located at the Chinatown end of Darling Harbour and is open daily from 9.30am till 5pm, admission price for students $3,-.

The garden’s traditional Chinese Tea House offers premium quality chinese tea for $2.80, soup of the day with fresh baguette for $5.50 and light meals for cca $7.

Try your limits in the biggest INDOOR CLIMBING gym

Clim Fit Gym at St Leonards (unit 4/12 Frederick Street – easlily to find from the St Leonards train station) is Sydney’s largest indoor climbing facility with 5-45 degree walls. Students entry 6am-4pm $12,- (+ harness hire $6,- and shoe hire $6,-).

Open weekdays 6am-10pm, weekends 8am-8pm.

The world famous CIRQUE DU SOLEIL comes to Sydney for 1 month

Cirque du Soleil began with a very simple dream – a group of young entertainers got together to amuse audiences and see the world. Their shows became famous because of their first class acrobatic performances. The new show “Quidam”features a young girl who finds herself in a special universe full of mysterious character.

The show takes place in The Showring, Fox Studios, Moore Park from 12 August till 12 September, tickets from $59,- + $8 fee if ordered via www.ticketek.com

OCEANWORLD is the opportunity of a lifetime to dive with sharks

You will get up close and personal with huge grey sharks, giant stingrays or sea turtles.

Catch a ferry to the ocean resort of Manly and you will see the Oceanworld Manly only 200 meters from Manly Wharf. This unique aquarium offers a breathtaking dive with the largest sharks in Australia. The whole experience takes cca 2.5 hours (30 mins dive) and the introductory program for non divers costs $220 (if you are a qualified diver, the cost for you will be $165). You can’t take underwater pictures of you, the pictures will be available for purchase. There is no experience required and your Shark Dive Xtreme experience entitles you to free admission to Oceanworld. If you think this will be a little to much for you, just visit the aquarium as a tourist and enjoy the 110m long underwater viewing tunnel. This costs only $12.50 for students (if you’ll come after 3.30pm PLUS 15%discount). Open daily 10am-5.30pm.
